- Partner with managers and leadership to address employee concerns, foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with company values, and promote HR best practices.
- Responsible for planning and administration of annual open enrollment and other benefit changes throughout the year.
- Assist in conducting exit interviews and completing analysis of feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements by reviewing existing and new legislation and advising management on needed actions.
- Serves as support for employee relations investigations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and performance improvement counseling.
- Conduct investigations regarding discrimination and unfair employment practices.
- Draft documents, including discipline, performance review, termination, and correspondence related to the various functions as assigned.
- Responsible for benefits, worker's compensation, FMLA, ADA, and OSHA recordkeeping.
- Responsible for coordinating/supporting the full-cycle recruitment process (job postings, interviews, etc.).
- Manage the onboarding/new hire orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
- Coordinate and conduct employee training sessions/compliance training.
- Partner with the team and others to improve HR operational workflows and ensure the integrity of HR data.
- Recommend and implement strategies that strengthen and develop employee engagement through events and initiatives that touch employees throughout their careers.
- Develop and leverage effective and sustainable feedback processes to ensure staff feedback is considered in making programming decisions.
- Create and edit presentations, spreadsheets, communications, databases, reports, and org charts.
- Regularly run standard and ad-hoc reports
- Always maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Support HR Manger and CHRO as needed.
- Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule which may include evenings and weekends.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Human Resource Management or Business Administration) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years employee relations experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience with benefit reconciliations, benefit set up.
- Strong working knowledge of principles and practices of human resources leave of absence administration.
- Experience with recruiting, onboarding, and new hire orientation processes
- Experience handling Workers Compensation
- Ability to articulate benefits to employees.
- Ability to work under pressure, balancing multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must be approachable, flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels
- Demonstrates organization and planning skills necessary to handle changing priorities, and numerous projects simultaneously.
- Must have initiative and be capable of independent thought and action, with good problem-solving skills and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Works effectively as a team member with other members of management.
- Proficiency in HRIS Systems, MS Office.
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal laws related to Human Resources functions, plus separation, employee relations and investigative procedures with special focus on California law.
- Must be experienced in data analytics and research techniques to supply the most accurate information, reports, and recommendations.
- Must have the ability to maintain upmost confidentiality
PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current PHR or SPHR certification (or CA/PHR/SPHR certification).
- Experience with UKG
- Grant management and processes in a university environment
