We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support the firm’s billing and reimbursement processes, with a strong focus on reviewing and interpreting medical Explanation of Benefits (EOBs). This role is ideal for someone with a healthcare or medical billing background who is comfortable working with insurance payments, adjustments, and reconciliations. Prior law firm experience is not required; training on legal-specific processes will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and interpret medical EOBs to ensure accurate billing, payment application, and reconciliation
- Identify underpayments, denials, and discrepancies and work to resolve them in a timely manner
- Apply insurance payments, adjustments, write-offs, and transfers accurately
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status, payment issues, and appeals
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing questions and ensure proper documentation
- Maintain accurate billing records and supporting documentation
- Generate billing and reimbursement reports as needed
- Support month-end billing and reconciliation processes
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and applicable regulations
Qualifications
- 3 years of billing experience, preferably in medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle, or insurance reimbursement
- Strong understanding of medical EOBs, CPT codes, adjustments, and payer processes
- Experience working with insurance carriers, denials, and appeals
- Proficiency in billing systems and Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in personal injury, workers’ compensation, or medical-legal billing environments
- Familiarity with lien-based or third-party reimbursement models
- Experience supporting audits or complex reconciliations
