A. Description
The BAU Fiber Supervisor is a regular, full-time, exempt managerial position responsible for overseeing technicians performing Business As Usual (BAU) construction, installation, maintenance, and repair work across Comcast business units, including SDU (Single Dwelling Unit), MDU (Multi-Dwelling Unit), Hyperbuilds, and Node projects. This position ensures that all projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with customer specifications and company standards.
The Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and support to field technicians, ensuring timely completion of jobs while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role has multiple direct reports, is based out of the Statham, Georgia office, and reports directly to the Cable TV Fiber Manager.
This position works a regular schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Intermittent travel throughout the greater Metro Atlanta area, and occasionally elsewhere within the state of Georgia, is required to conduct field-based inspections at active job sites. As a condition of employment, this role may require extended work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel, based on operational and business needs.
B. Responsibilities
BAU Fiber Management:
- Oversee day-to-day BAU fiber construction, installation, maintenance, and repair activities across SDU, MDU, Hyperbuild, and Node projects.
- Assign work, monitor job progress, and verify workmanship to ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
- Conduct routine and ad hoc site visits to ensure proper project execution and quality control.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support and subject-matter expertise to technicians in the field.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for technical, safety, or execution-related issues impacting BAU fiber work.
- Ensure proper use, care, and readiness of vehicles, tools, and fiber testing equipment.
People & Culture:
- Champion and support Company policies, procedures, and values, while holding employees and contractors accountable to established standards.
- Provide leadership, direction, and daily support to assigned field technicians to drive safe, high-quality, and timely job completion.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture by enforcing company, customer, and regulatory safety standards.
- Support training, coaching, and development of technicians to enhance skills, performance, and adherence to best practices.
- Motivate and guide technicians while fostering teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct in the field.
Cross Functional Coordination:
- Support other lines of business as needed to meet broader organizational goals.
- Coordinate scheduling, resource allocation, and workload balancing to meet BAU deliverables and operational priorities.
- Collaborate with other supervisors, managers, and operational partners to ensure smooth execution of multi-unit and cross-functional projects.
- Align with internal teams and customer stakeholders to resolve execution issues and support overall business unit objectives.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily reports, test results, as-built records, and other required project artifacts.
- Ensure digital and administrative reporting is completed in accordance with company and customer requirements.
- Perform additional administrative or operational duties as assigned to support BAU reporting and compliance needs.
C. Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification:
- Completion of a High School Diploma or attainment of a General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D).
- Valid Class C License (CDL) license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of fiber optic construction, installation, or splicing experience required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SDU, MDU, Hyperbuild, and Node construction practices.
- Proficiency in splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber networks.
- Ability to read and interpret fiber design prints, engineering documents, and splice records.
- Familiarity with OTDR, IOLM, power meters/light sources, and VFL testing equipment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools.
- Must pass DOT, drug, background, and MVR screenings.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles, bucket trucks, and trailers.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Qualifications & Characteristics:
- Visual acuity sufficient to read prints, splicing documentation, and inspect completed work.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on job sites.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 70 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in warehouse, yard, and outdoor job sites for shifts of up to 12 hours.
- Ability to climb ladders, telephone poles, and work at heights when providing directed training.

Work Environment:
- Ability to work outdoors with exposure to variable weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, and active equipment, including humidity and seasonal temperature changes.
