Underground Construction Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Construction Supervisor oversees daily field operations for construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, client specifications, and industry regulations. This role coordinates crews, subcontractors, materials, and schedules to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget. The Construction Supervisor acts as the link between project management and field crews. A strong construction supervisor combines technical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills; ensuring crews work efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

·        Supervise and lead field crews performing business and residential telecom construction, including aerial, underground and OSP/ISP builds.

·        Coordinate daily work plans, assign tasks, and monitors progress to ensure project milestones are met.

·        Conduct pre-construction walk-throughs and site inspections to verify safety compliance, quality of workmanship, and adherence to design specifications are met. 

·        Manage subcontractor performance and verify completion of work according to scop and contract terms.

·        Communicate effectively with project managers, construction managers, and clients to provide updates on progress, challenges, and resources needed. 

·        Ensure all work complies with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies.

·        Lead daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings and enforce job site safety standards.

·        Track material usage, equipment deployment, and labor hours for project reporting and cost control.

·        Assist in reviewing construction drawings, redlines, and as-builts to confirm field accuracy.

·        Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members to promote skill development and accountability.

·        Ensure field crews have the correct material, tools, vehicles, and equipment for each job.

·        Ensure company employees and subcontractors perform JSA’s at each job site before work is started.

·        Verify and approve employees’ timesheets daily.

·        Ensure daily vehicle and equipment inspections are performed before crew(s) leave the yard.

·        Ensure all final invoices are accurate, invoicing packets are complete in full prior to paying sub-contractor or employee

·        Review and approve all purchase requisitions to ensure they are aligned with company policies

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

·        High school diploma or equivalent, associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, telecommunications, or related field preferred.

·        3-5 years of experience in telecom (fiber, coax, copper, or wireless) with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

Technical Skills:

·        Strong understanding of telecom infrastructure, including fiber splicing, conduit systems, pole attachments, and sub-surface construction.

·        Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, maps, and specifications

·        Proficiency with field reporting tools, project management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

·        Administratively organized and is a problem solver.

Other Requirements:

·        Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

·        Willingness to travel to projects sites as required.

Physical Requirements:

·        Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions

·        Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs and perform site inspections on uneven terrain.

·        Ability to stand, sit, drive, and use electronic devices. 

This position may require you to work extended hours, weekends, or on-call duties depending on project needs.
