Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Underground Construction Supervisor role based in Kingston,NY The Underground Construction Supervisor oversees daily field operations for underground fiber and utility construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification. Responsibilities include supervising construction crews and subcontractors, coordinating schedules, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress across multiple sites. The role involves conducting site walks, inspecting work for quality and compliance, interpreting plans and drawings, and resolving field issues in collaboration with project managers and clients. The supervisor will help enforce safety protocols, lead tailgate meetings, track production and materials, document job activity, and provide clear communication between field teams, management, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated supervisory skills, including team leadership, coaching, and performance oversight in a construction or utility environment.
- Hands-on site supervision experience managing daily field operations, coordinating crews and subcontractors, and working from construction plans.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with crew members, project managers, inspectors, and clients, both verbally and in writing.
- Inspection experience to verify work quality, adherence to specifications, and compliance with local codes and project requirements.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices, including OSHA guidelines, safe excavation procedures, and utility locating best practices.
- Experience in underground construction, fiber installation, or related telecom/utility construction preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and to perform the physical demands of on-site supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for travel between job sites.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications in construction, utilities, or safety are a plus.
