The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) Centralized Revenue Opportunity System (CROS) Bureau in the Technology Services Division is seeking ambitious, driven, and dynamic individuals to join our team. Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I on CROS Production Support Team, the ITS II works as an independent technical specialist lead on the most complex software management solutions. The lead will have a responsibility for managing and supporting operations, maintenance, and upgrades. The activities of the Application Administrator Lead will focus on keeping the application, file, web, and databases up and running at a healthy and optimum level. The ITS II in the CROS Bureau will be responsible for:
  • Planning technical strategies for activities to achieve the department wide goals for CROS.
  • Providing advice to the CROS Bureau chief on sensitive and complex issues related to the management and support of the application environment.
  • Participation in all stages of the application, file, and web server administration and configuration in support of CROS.
  • Creating, managing, and optimizing environments for CROS.
  • Coordinating activities for scheduled system changes, enhancements, and service/sync packs.
  • Preparation of reports and makes recommendations for improvement.

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.

Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all California Department of Tax and Fee Administration salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.

  • May be required to travel up to five percent (5%) of the time to various offices and locations throughout the State and surrounding areas via private or public transportation including overnight lodging to provide client services, attend meetings, conferences, and training.
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience managing complex IT projects.
  • Strong IT analysis capabilities, including prioritization and dashboard reporting.
  • Experience with IT strategy for disaster recovery.
  • Experience with application and database management and mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to perform technical and business analysis and assess system and environment impacts.
  • Experience evaluating and managing IT Solution Requests (SQRs) and evaluating decisions.
  • Experience coordinating with various levels of management within the organization and third-party vendors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentoring team members and supporting organizational readiness.
  • Strong soft skills, including communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).
  • Software Development Life Cycle. 

Salary : $103,500 - $138,684
