Purpose
We are seeking a Precision Metrology Technician who will be primarily responsible for performing high-accuracy dimensional and optical measurements on precision-manufactured components within a regulated medical device environment. This hands-on role supports manufacturing, engineering, quality, and regulatory functions by ensuring measurement accuracy, maintaining proper documentation, analyzing data and supporting product release activities. Accuracy, traceability and procedural compliance are critical due to the impact of measurements on product quality and patient safety.
The position is initially structured as a one-year contract, with potential for extension based on business needs and performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-accuracy dimensional, surface, and optical measurements on precision components, including polymer-based parts, molded components, and precision tooling.
- Operate advanced metrology equipment, including:
- Surface profilometers (e.g., Talysurf)
- Vision and dimensional measurement systems (e.g., Keyence or Mitutoyo platforms)
- Optical measurement systems or optical bench platforms
- Execute measurements to tight tolerances in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
- Collect, review, and compile measurement data into controlled batch records.
- Analyze measurement results for compliance, identifying and escalating any out-of-specification conditions.
- Prepare summary inspection reports and draft documentation required for product release.
- Coordinate with Quality and Regulatory teams to obtain necessary approvals prior to release.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve measurement discrepancies, support investigations, and assist with validation or qualification activitie.
- Support calibration, verification, and general upkeep of metrology equipment.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation in accordance with regulated medical device quality systems.
- Working experience performing precision measurements in a regulated or high-accuracy manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience operating dimensional, surface, or optical measurement equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to micron-level tolerances while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Ability to follow controlled procedures and interpret technical specifications.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and GMP practices for medical device manufacturing is an advantage.
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in metrology, mechanical technology, optical technology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in medical device, aerospace, automotive, or other precision manufacturing environments.
- Professional certifications such as ASQ CCT (Certified Calibration Technician) or equivalent.
- Controlled laboratory and/or clean manufacturing environment within a regulated medical device facility.
- Handling of precision components and sensitive measurement equipment.
- High level of procedural compliance and documentation accuracy required.
