Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive physical education curricula aligned with grade-level standards, incorporating elements of literacy education, math, and health education.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote physical activity, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal fitness goals.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all students, including those with autism or special needs.
- Utilize learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technology tools to track student progress, assign activities, and communicate with parents and colleagues.
- Assess student performance regularly through observations, standardized testing, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support growth.
- Incorporate creative writing and storytelling into lessons to enhance communication skills related to health and wellness topics.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, school events, and academic advising to support student success across disciplines.
- Engage in ongoing professional development in areas such as childhood development, behavior management, Montessori methods, or early childhood education to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Education Administration, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Idaho teaching certification for K-12 physical education and health education.
- Proven classroom experience working with children across elementary and middle school levels; private school experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management strategies, and assessment techniques.
- Experience working with students with special needs; familiarity with behavior management techniques is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging students, parents, and staff effectively.
- Knowledge of testing procedures related to physical education and health literacy assessments.
