Work Schedule
- Standard: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM
- Optional: Four 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM 5:30 PM)
- Flexibility required for early, late, overtime, weekends, and shift changes
Position Summary
The Technical Writer I supports maintenance operations by creating, updating, and standardizing technical documentation. This role works with minimal supervision to ensure all maintenance-related content is accurate, clear, and aligned with operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain:
- User manuals
- Technical guides
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders
- Job plans within Maximo CMMS
- Validate maintenance instructions against OEM manuals and technical specifications
- Ensure accuracy of labor estimates, job steps, and task sequencing
- Standardize documentation in line with OEM procedures and internal standards
- Produce clear, structured, and user-friendly technical content
- Collaborate with technicians, supervisors, and engineers to gather and verify information
- Support data entry, document control, and configuration management in CMMS
- Document technical activities and prepare detailed reports
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and clarity in all documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret:
- OEM manuals
- Technical drawings
- Schematics
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Word
- Excel
- PDF editing tools
- Familiarity with Maximo or other CMMS platforms (preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to:
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Bend, twist, and work in tight or elevated spaces
- Safely access and document equipment in industrial environments
- Adhere to all safety and PPE requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade certification or Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance
- Experience with:
- PM program standardization
- CMMS improvements or upgrades
- Knowledge of:
- Lean Maintenance
- Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in maintenance, facilities, or manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of:
