We are hiring an experienced Polysomnographic Technician / Sleep Technologist for a well-equipped Sleep Lab in Shreveport, LA. This role is ideal for professionals skilled in sleep studies, PAP therapy, and overnight patient monitoring.
Job Overview
As a Sleep Tech, you will conduct diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnography studies for patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations. You’ll work independently overnight while ensuring accurate data collection and patient safety.
Schedule Details
- Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (12-hour nights)
- Guaranteed: 36 hours/week
- Schedule Pattern: Alternating 36 / 48 hours
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- On-Call: None
- Holidays: Not required
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for overnight sleep studies (polysomnography)
- Perform PAP (CPAP/BiPAP) mask fittings
- Monitor and record:
- Oxygen saturation
- Respiratory rate
- Heart rate
- Sleep stages, body movements, and positioning
- Apply and manage electrodes, sensors, thermistors, and probes
- Operate and troubleshoot sleep monitoring systems
- Assist with CPAP/BiPAP therapy adjustments
- Educate patients on procedures and expectations
- Accurately document findings in the EMR system
- Provide basic patient care and support as needed
Equipment & Systems
- EMR: Meditech Expanse
- Sleep System: Alice Sleepware G3 (transitioning to Nihon Kohden)
Minimum Requirements
- ✔ Minimum 1 year of Polysomnography experience (more preferred)
- ✔ Previous travel experience required
- ✔ Experience with pediatric through geriatric patients
- ✔ Ability to work independently overnight
- ✔ Strong technical troubleshooting skills
Required Certifications & Licensure
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) OR RRT-SDS
- Active Louisiana State License
