Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Travel Surgical Technologist (Scr Tech / OR Tech / Operating Room Technician) to join a high-performing surgical team in San Diego, CA.
This role is ideal for skilled professionals with strong experience in orthopedic, neuro, and robotic surgical procedures who thrive in fast-paced operating room environments.
Travel Requirement
Must reside 50 miles from San Diego, CA (travel eligibility requirement)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile field in the Operating Room (OR)
- Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs
- Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Perform instrument counts before and after procedures
- Follow physician preference cards and surgical protocols
- Assist with dressings and cast application
- Ensure compliance with patient safety and regulatory standards
- Communicate effectively with surgical team members
- Support documentation and updates for surgical procedures
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a hospital OR
- Strong experience in:
- Orthopedic surgery
- Neuro surgery
- Robotic surgery
- Proficiency in:
- Instrument handling & counting
- Sterile techniques
- Case preparation & picking
- Surgical workflow support
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
- Scrub Tech Certification – Required
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum required)
- Completion of an Operating Room Technician program preferred
Schedule Details
- 3 shifts/week (12 hours each)
- Includes:
- Weekend shifts (every other weekend)
- On-call requirement (30-minute response time)
