Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med/Surg Telemetry / PCU assignment in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
The RN will care for adult patients with general medical conditions, abdominal surgeries, ENT surgeries, complex wounds, and other acute-care needs in a 29-bed unit. The ideal candidate should have a strong Med/Surg, Telemetry, PCU, or Intermediate Care background and be comfortable managing higher-acuity patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to acute-care and medical-surgical patients.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and monitor patient conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
- Manage and monitor IV medications and titratable drips.
- Care for patients with abdominal and ENT surgeries, complex wounds, ostomies, drains, wound vacs, NG tubes, and Foley catheters.
- Monitor patients receiving medications such as heparin, insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin as ordered.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, nurse aides, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation.
- Provide safe patient care using established clinical and infection-control standards.
- Float to other Med/Surg units as needed based on staffing.
Requirements
- Active RN license required.
- BLS (AHA) certification required.
- ACLS preferred.
- Previous Med/Surg, Telemetry, PCU, or Intermediate Care experience required.
- Experience with:
- IVs
- Drains
- Ostomies
- Wound Vacs
- NG tubes
- Foley catheters
- Electronic Health Records
- Intermediate-care patients
- Must be comfortable managing/titrating IV drips.
- Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and patient-care skills.
Assignment Details
- Unit: 4N PCU / Med-Surg
- Beds: 29
- Typical RN Ratio: 1:4 days / 1:6 nights
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Every other holiday
- Call: No call required
- Floating: Rotation to other Med/Surg units when needed
- Scrubs: Any color
- EMR: Cerner
- Orientation: 12 hours computer training 12 hours shadowing
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed, but efforts are made to accommodate block schedules, particularly for night-shift staff.
