Job Overview
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our Core Laboratory team in Shreveport, LA. This is a high-autonomy, mid-shift role ideal for a confident MLS who can work independently with minimal supervision.
You will perform high-complexity testing across all Core Lab areas while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in a fast-paced hospital environment.
This role follows a 7 on / 7 off schedule, offering strong work-life balance and predictable time off.
Daily Responsibilities
- Perform accurate, timely lab testing on patient samples
- Operate and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment
- Perform QC, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Validate and report results in Meditech Expanse LIS
- Communicate critical values to clinical teams
- Work independently with minimal onsite support
- Serve as shift coordinator / lead support when needed
- Assist with troubleshooting across facilities during escalations
- Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Laboratory Science
- Active ASCP MLS certification (or equivalent)
- Active Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Science license
- 2–3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred
- Strong competency in Core Lab disciplines
- Ability to work independently in a hospital laboratory setting
Schedule & Work Environment
- 7 on / 7 off rotation
- Mid shift: 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM (10-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend rotation
- No call
- Holiday coverage per rotation schedule
