What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Azure Cloud Architect position at Business Centric Technology?
We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Azure Cloud Architect to design and stand up a secure, scalable, and production-ready Azure environment from scratch. This is a true builder role — not just designing architecture, but owning the implementation end-to-end. You’ll create a modern cloud platform that supports critical, high-impact workloads, with a strong focus on resilience, security, and operational excellence. This is a 4-month contract working on-site in Addison, TX.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Design and implement a scalable Azure environment from the ground up, including subscriptions, resource groups, governance standards, secure networking (VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, hybrid connectivity), hub-and-spoke architecture, and private endpoints.
- Build and validate high availability and disaster recovery strategies, including Azure DNS (public/private), DNS-based failover (Traffic Manager/Front Door), cross-region resilience, and RTO/RPO testing.
- Deploy and configure AKS or similar container platforms, defining scaling, fault isolation, self-healing capabilities, and secure network integration for container workloads.
- Implement security and compliance best practices, including least-privilege access (RBAC, Azure AD), Key Vault for secrets and certificates, encryption at rest and in transit, and protection of sensitive data (PHI/PII).
- Establish monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, including logging, alerting, dashboards, and full visibility across infrastructure and applications.
- Build and automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM), implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure repeatable, scalable, and version-controlled deployments.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- 8 years in cloud/platform engineering, including 4 years hands-on with Azure
- Proven experience building enterprise-grade Azure environments from scratch
- Deep expertise in:
- Azure networking & architecture
- High availability & disaster recovery
- DNS and failover strategies
- Container platforms (AKS preferred)
- Monitoring & observability
- Security (RBAC, Key Vault, encryption)
- Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD
- Experience supporting critical or sensitive data environments
- Strong ability to design for resilience, scalability, and long-term maintainability
