Description
The maintenance mechanic may install or help install and repair all electrical and mechanical equipment and maintain the buildings and grounds. Must be familiar with the tools used to maintain this equipment.
Core job functions include:
Checks
- Checks mechanical and electrical equipment as to proper operation, lubrication and alignment.
- Routinely inspects building and equipment and executes preventative maintenance schedules.
- Repairs, calibrates and performs preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.
- Keeps all equipment up to code requirements.
- Accurately records readings of pressure and vacuum gauges and thermometers.
- Familiar with boilers and their operation.
Repairs
- Repairs equipment that is not operating properly or is not functioning.
- Does work assigned on repair form in proper order as prioritized, orders or has ordered all parts needed to keep equipment operational.
Upkeep
- Responsible for routine upkeep on equipment.
- Properly checks equipment for needed repairs and upkeep on a consistent basis, making repairs and planned maintenance when required.
Assignments
- Carries out assignments promptly and accurately.
Must have high school education and have general maintenance abilities. Alternate combinations of education and experience may be considered.
