Position Summary
The LTL Dispatcher is responsible for managing daily dispatch operations for local and regional LTL freight while also serving as a key point of contact for customers. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance driver coordination, freight movement, and customer service in a fast paced environment. This position is best suited for an experienced dispatcher who understands LTL operations and can keep freight moving efficiently while maintaining a high level of service for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, dispatch, and manage daily LTL routes and driver assignments
- Communicate clearly with drivers regarding routes, schedules, and operational changes
- Monitor freight movement to ensure on time pickups and deliveries
- Serve as a primary customer contact for shipment status updates, delivery questions, and service issues
- Respond to customer inquiries professionally and in a timely manner
- Coordinate with yard staff, reload operations, and operations management
- Address service issues, delays, and driver concerns in real time
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and DOT regulations
- Monitor hours of service and assist with compliant load planning
- Maintain accurate dispatch and customer service records, logs, and documentation
- Support operations and customer service teams as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience dispatching in an LTL trucking environment
- Strong understanding of LTL routing, reloads, and terminal operations
- Experience managing drivers and customer interactions in a service driven environment
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced setting
- Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of hours of service regulations
- Experience with dispatch software and TMS systems preferred
