What you’ll be doing
The Operations Team Leader, Air & Ocean will support customer service and shipment activities by coordinating and directing teams tasked with filing Customs entries, Exports, and in-bond transactions. The focus is on the timely filing of customs transactions and personnel management.

- Provide the highest level of customer service to clients, vendors, and service providers by handling their requests, resolving issues and contacting them for additional documents and/or information.
- Monitor shipment advances, volumes, ETAs daily ensuring the timely processing of Air, Ocean, Rail, ISF and AES advances and process flow based on best practices per shipment type.
- Act as liaison between CBP, other government agencies and operations to ensure compliance with CBP regulations by enhancing knowledge of new Customs Policies and regulations including PGAs and FTAs.
- Research tariff and classification of goods and ensure entries and documentation is prepared and completed to comply with US Customs regulations.
- Run internal and external reports for audits, data analysis, and cross reference.
- Identify possible problems and/or communicate any suggestions for operational improvements and assist in implementation of changes.
- Above average written and verbal communication skills.
- Showcase your skills with Microsoft utilizing programs such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
- Identify potential challenges/risks and solve problems efficiently or work with Leaders for a solution.
- Foster a fast paced culture leading by example in terms of accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
- Effectively prioritize and manage the team multiple and personal tasks to meet KPI's and deadlines.
- To provide the highest level of customer service by leading and mentoring, fostering a positive and productive work environment and resolving escalated issues as needed.
- Ability to manage a group of 5 to 10 employees
- Assist with performance evaluations for direct reports
- Assign tasks to team members
- Assists with training and guidance of direct reports
- Monitor work volumes of direct reports
- Supervise team members, conduct team meetings, monitor attendance, and work schedules
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years in custom brokerage or logistics experience.
- Intermediate MS Office knowledge.
- High level of organization, time management and attention to detail.
- Leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with completion of complex entries.
- CCS Designation or LCHB training preferred.
- Able to function in a time sensitive environment.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in processes, procedures, issues, and communications.
- Must be legally eligible to work for the Company at all times.
- Valid Passport and ability and desire to occasionally travel if required to other offices locations in CAD/USA/MX.
