Senior Accountant
Global Manufacturing Organization | Chicago, IL
A leading global manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Accounting Center of Excellence. This role plays a key part in supporting financial reporting, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and US GAAP.
This opportunity is ideal for someone coming out of public accounting (2.5–3 years)—especially with manufacturing clients—who is looking to transition into a dynamic corporate environment with strong exposure to operations and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Close & Reporting
- Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses
- Own key accounting areas such as fixed assets and lease accounting, partnering with cross-functional teams
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances or discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Support internal and external audit processes and assist with remediation of findings
Controls & Compliance
- Maintain strong adherence to SOX controls and regulatory requirements
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting systems
Process Improvement & Projects
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting operations
- Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2.5–3 years of public accounting experience REQUIRED (Big 4 or large regional preferred)
- Experience auditing or working with manufacturing clients strongly preferred
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting
- Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, JDE, or similar preferred)
- Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication and ability to collaborate across teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
