Position Summary:
We are looking for a Paint Prep Technician who will report to the Assembly Supervisor. This position builds and wraps components of aluminum fishing boats with carpet or vinyl contributing to the beautiful aesthetic that Alumacraft is known for.
The starting hourly pay rate for this position is $21.61
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify boats for proper sequencing with production schedule.
- Ensure materials and supplies are present, stocked, organized, properly labeled and properly disposed of.
- Remove grease, dirt, paint, imperfections and scratches from aluminum surfaces in preparation for paint application, using pneumatic tools, fillers and solvents.
- Mask surfaces with tape or paper.
- Seal voids with caulk.
- Trim excess material from seams.
- Remove debris and moisture from spray rails, gunnels, and other crevices and surfaces of the boat.
- Hang boats on a monorail system using overhead hoists, slings and boat hangers.
- Safely inspect and operate hoists, slings, boat hangers, monorail.
- Clean work area and maintain walkways free of litter and clutter, clean machines, sweep aluminum chips and other debris, keep personal effects stored appropriately.
- Participate in daily morning meetings including stretching activities, assist with incident investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality improvements.
- Follow all internal processes and procedures including incident reporting, rework escalation, and stop-call-wait.
- Assist in training other employees on equipment and department procedures, engage in effective conversations with team members and leaders, escalate and discuss issues or potential issues to leads and supervisors.
- Aid other departments as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Ability to stand, walk and perform work for several hours in various positions on a concrete floor.
- Manually move products and materials through physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending.
- Perform work at a reasonable pace within our quality and production expectations.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Preferred: - Manufacturing, production, CNC, or assembly experience.
- Paint Department experience in a manufacturing environment.
