Manufacturing and Quality Engineering Manager

Introduction
Our Client, a global manufacturer of engineered industrial equipment, is seeking a Manufacturing & Quality Engineering Manager to lead process discipline, product quality, and engineering execution at a manufacturing site in Winnipeg.
This is a key leadership role responsible for aligning engineering, production, and quality systems while driving operational excellence on the shop floor.
The position is highly visible within the organization and is expected to build strong process ownership, accountability, and future leadership capability.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain standard manufacturing processes, including routings, standard hours, and process flow
- Drive capacity planning, line balancing, and throughput improvement aligned with demand
- Lead daily issue resolution on the production floor with clear ownership and escalation
- Eliminate bottlenecks and improve labor efficiency, schedule adherence, and overall execution
- Own and enforce the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with all internal and external requirements
- Drive built‑in quality with a focus on defect prevention rather than inspection
- Lead corrective action processes, including root cause analysis, containment, and verified closure
- Reduce cost of quality, including scrap, rework, warranty, and customer issues
- Lead, develop, and mentor manufacturing engineering and quality teams
- Maintain strong floor presence and partner closely with operations leadership
- Ensure alignment between engineering, production, supply chain, and commercial teams
- Support S&OP through capacity, capability, and execution readiness
Requirements
- 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment
- 2 years of quality engineering or quality systems experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Welding, or a related field
- Experience in metal fabrication and mechanical equipment manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of welding standards, quality systems, BOMs, routings, and standard cost environments
- Lean or continuous improvement certification (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred)
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- High level of accountability, structure, and operational discipline
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of production processes, blueprints, welding standards (AWS/CWB), and quality control systems.
- Experience with BOMs, routings, and standard cost environments.
- Proficiency in 2D/3D design software.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
