Brunel Energy is recruiting Inspection Advisors to work in Carlsbad, NM for initially 1 year contract.


The QA Inspector is responsible for monitoring and verifying construction, fabrication, maintenance, and installation activities to ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, industry codes, and quality requirements.

This role supports safe and reliable project execution by providing quality oversight, technical inspection expertise, and proactive identification of quality issues throughout all phases of construction and fabrication activities.


Responsibilities:

• Promote and support a strong safety culture within all inspection and quality activities.

• Ensure contractor and supplier work is performed in accordance with approved specifications, procedures, codes, and standards.

• Monitor construction and fabrication activities to verify compliance with project quality requirements.

• Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections on construction, fabrication, maintenance, and installation activities.

• Provide technical guidance and inspection expertise related to:

  • Welding
  • Coating applications
  • Civil construction activities
  • Piping systems
  • Pressure vessel fabrication
  • Storage tank fabrication
  • Equipment installation
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

• Monitor contractor and supplier inspection activities to ensure quality requirements are met.

• Identify potential quality concerns and provide recommendations to prevent issues and reduce rework.

• Assist contractors and suppliers in developing and improving quality control programs and inspection processes.

• Support the development, review, and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

• Review contractor and supplier quality documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.

• Verify quality records and documentation are maintained and submitted according to project requirements.

• Participate in Mechanical Completion walkdowns.

• Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) walkdowns.

• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).

• Participate in final inspection and equipment release activities.

• Review supplier quality control documentation.

• Support punch list management and closure activities.

• Maintain communication with Quality Management and project supervision regarding quality performance and issues.

• Provide timely updates on significant quality concerns and corrective actions.

• Prepare and submit:

  • Inspection reports
  • Quality incident reports
  • Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Quality status updates

• Ensure quality records, inspection reports, and project documentation are properly maintained and archived.

• Identify quality risks and provide early warning of potential issues.

• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence of quality problems.

• Promote continuous improvement initiatives within contractor and supplier quality programs.


Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Inspection experience supporting major oil and gas projects.

• Current or previous AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.

• Strong knowledge of construction, fabrication, inspection, and quality control practices within the oil and gas industry.

• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments while maintaining professionalism and sound judgment.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to prepare detailed inspection and quality documentation.

• Willingness and ability to travel to field locations, fabrication shops, vendor facilities, and project sites as required.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Current or previous ACCP or NACE Coating Inspector certification.

• Current or previous certifications in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods, including:

  • Radiographic Testing (RT)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
