What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspection Coordinator position at Brunel?
Brunel is recruiting Inspection Coordinators to work with our major Oil and Gas client in Midland, TX for an initial 1 year contract.
Responsibilities:
- Promote safety within the area of specialty.
- Ensure all 3rd-party contractors comply with company’s safety policies and standards.
- Ensure recommended and approved procedures, NDE techniques, equipment, and qualified personnel are used for inspection activities.
- Provide work direction and logistic support for field inspection activities.
- Identify inspection needs and develop workforce plans with Basin Integrity Leads.
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise all field inspection work.
- Oversee implementation and stewardship of the site inspection program according to the scope of work.
- Review inspection reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure all inspection data is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent with work practices.
- Report inspection findings to the Basin Integrity Lead.
- Provide feedback to Basin Integrity Leads regarding the performance of contract inspection personnel.
- Ensure equipment history and inspection records are updated in CMMS.
Job Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of pressure vessel and tank inspection techniques.
- Proficiency in NDE methods: UT, RT, MT, PT, VT.
- Strong understanding of API codes:
API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspection)
API 653 (Tank Inspection)
API 570 (Piping Inspection)
- Deep understanding of ASME, API, and DOT regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SAP, FSM, Oracle, Meridium.
Skills:
- Strong project coordination and scheduling skills.
- Contractor supervision and team management experience.
- Strong communication and reporting abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook).
- Ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
Experience:
- 6–10 years of experience in oil & gas operations.
- Minimum 3 years in inspection coordination or integrity management roles.
- Experience working in field environments and coordinating multi-site inspection activities.
Education & Certifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Required: API 653 – Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector
- Preferred:
API 510 – Pressure Vessel Inspector
API 570 – Piping Inspector
NDE Level II or III in UT, MT, PT, RT
Additional Requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically or internationally for project support.
