The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, packaging, and finished ice cream products throughout the manufacturing and warehouse areas. This role supports production flow, inventory accuracy, and cold-storage operations while maintaining strict food safety and safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, and/or pallet jack forklifts safely and efficiently
- Load, unload, move, stack, and stage materials and finished goods
- Work in freezer and refrigerated environments (including sub-zero temperatures)
- Supply production lines with ingredients, packaging, and materials as needed
- Transport finished product to freezer, staging, or shipping areas
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Follow GMPs, food safety, OSHA, and company safety policies
- Accurately complete inventory transactions (manual logs or WMS/RF scanners)
- Assist with cycle counts, inventory organization, and warehouse cleanliness
- Support sanitation, changeovers, and production downtime as assigned
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, QA, production, and shipping teams
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 1 year forklift experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Forklift certification required or ability to obtain upon hire
- Experience working in cold storage or frozen food environment preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, twist, and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in cold/freezer temperatures for long durations
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Basic math and inventory skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English (Spanish a plus)
- Frequent exposure to cold/freezer temperatures
- Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout shift
- Use of PPE including freezer gear, gloves, and safety footwear
- Fast-paced food manufacturing environment
