This role is critical to food safety, quality, and compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, utensils, and processing lines used in ice cream manufacturing
- Perform CIP (Clean-In-Place) and COP (Clean-Out-of-Place) procedures as assigned
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment for proper cleaning
- Use approved chemicals and sanitizers following safety guidelines and SOPs
- Clean floors, drains, walls, ceilings, and common production areas
- Remove and properly dispose of waste, ice cream residue, and packaging materials
- Follow GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and food safety standards at all times
- Complete sanitation logs, checklists, and documentation accurately
- Identify and report sanitation, safety, or equipment issues to leadership
- Follow OSHA, chemical handling, and PPE requirements
- Support audits and inspections (FDA, USDA, SQF, BRC, internal audits)
- Work closely with Production, QA, and Maintenance teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous sanitation or food manufacturing experience preferred (ice cream or dairy a plus)
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation chemicals, and cleaning procedures preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Ability to work in cold environments (freezers, coolers)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and work on feet for extended periods
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
- Cold and wet environments
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals (PPE provided)
- Loud production areas
- Fast-paced manufacturing setting
