Reliability Engineer

Our utilities client is seeking a motivated and technically strong Reliability Engineer to support engineering, maintenance, and asset-reliability programs across a large industrial/energy generation environment. This role is ideal for an Engineer II–level professional with a few years of experience who brings strong mechanical/electrical fundamentals, is eager to learn, and can work collaboratively across departments.
You will play a key role in driving reliability programs, supporting management-of-change processes, reducing risk across critical assets, and improving documentation and engineering discipline throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability Program Support
- Serve as a champion for reliability initiatives including:
- Management of Change (MOC)
- Root Cause Analysis
- Loss and risk control
- Support and track asset health, risk portfolios, and reliability program performance.
- Maintain alignment and documentation across engineering activities.
Technical Review & Documentation
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, manuals, and technical change documents.
- Work within established drawing and document management systems.
- Coordinate with multiple teams to collect, validate, and organize technical data.
- Support both maintenance and project activities at operating stations.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee and improve management-of-change workflows.
- Identify process inefficiencies and help streamline engineering and maintenance practices.
- Apply broad engineering fundamentals across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Gather inputs from operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to centralize and standardize reliability data.
- Promote an engineering-focused mindset across departments.
- Act as a connector between station teams and corporate engineering programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
- 3 years of relevant engineering experience (energy, petrochemical, mining, manufacturing, heavy industry, or similar).
- Foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience reviewing drawings, technical specifications, and engineering documents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proactive, self-starter attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in:
- Reliability Engineering
- Rotating equipment
- Mechanical/process engineering
- QA/QC, process improvement, or heavy industrial project work
- Familiarity with:
- Maximo, SAP AM, WMS, PeopleSoft, Citiworks (CMMS/EAM platforms)
- Project tools such as P6 or MSFT Project
- Engineering drawing software (awareness level; not required to produce drawings)
- Experience in environments with well-structured engineering programs (e.g., petro-chemical, mining, energy generation).
Tools & Technologies
- Office 365 (SharePoint, Excel, Word, Teams)
- CMMS/EAM systems such as Maximo or SAP
- Basic familiarity with engineering drawing management systems
