What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Brooklyn Hospital Center?
The Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical duties under the direction of a Physician, Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse. Duties may include, but not limited to, taking vital and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by Physician
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program Licensed by New York State Department of Education
- One (1) to two (2) years of demonstrated patient care experience in an outpatient or acute care setting
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Communicates effectively.
- Compassionate
- Be detail-orienteered
- Meticulous
- Adaptable
- Ability to multitask
- Stay calm under pressure
- Ability to document and retrieve information from the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and to help others
