Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their identity, and facilitate efficient check-in and check-out processes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Collect comprehensive patient histories, vital signs, and medication information while ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, including phlebotomy, medication administration, X-ray procedures, and basic life support when necessary.
- Support clinical workflows by preparing exam rooms, sterilizing equipment, and managing inventory of medical supplies.
- Perform patient intake assessments focusing on physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and ICD coding to ensure precise documentation for billing and treatment planning.
- Manage appointment scheduling, follow-up reminders, and coordinate referrals across outpatient clinics or hospital settings.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from an accredited program is required..
- Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner is essential.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification must be current; additional certifications in emergency medicine or geriatrics are beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle diverse patient populations compassionately and professionally.
