Responsibilities
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with procedures in specialties including dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, and outpatient clinics.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens,
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems),
- Support patient intake by verifying insurance information, updating medical records, and providing exceptional patient service throughout their visit.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate inpatient and outpatient care, including managing medical documentation and supporting hospital or trauma center workflows.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in medical office settings with familiarity in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical procedures.
- Hands-on experience in dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required.
- Strong knowledge of ICD coding, vital signs collection, phlebotomy techniques, and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse populations.
- Inpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers or PICU experience is a plus.
