Job Description:
If you are looking for an environment that is fast paced and organized while based in a collaborative and creative working space, this is the kitchen for you. This position fulfills a variety of back of house kitchen work including prep and line cook roles. You would be responsible for preparing and cooking food to be served within the cafe. This position requires the ability to work as a cohesive team member as well as efficiently alone. Responsible for holding awareness of the inventory and has the ability to communicate promptly and effectively to the Kitchen Manager, Cafe Manager, and Assistant Manager in reference to the Kitchen needs. This position reports to the management team. Role-specific qualifying knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Basic knowledge of kitchen safety practices and food preparation (in-depth knowledge and experience preferred, but training is provided and ongoing)
- Sufficient knife skills and ability to use various commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to uphold ServSafe food regulations and obtain/maintain a ServSafe Certification (provided on the job when needed)
- Ability to follow written or verbal recipes
- Ability to communicate effectively to the rest of the kitchen staff and front of house staff based on cafe needs
Role-specific essential job duties:
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all Broad Porch food menu items, including common diet restricted items and allergens, answer questions regarding menu items
- Multitask and prioritize tasks as needed to prepare kitchen items efficiently and effectively
- Monitor kitchen supplies and communicate promptly with Kitchen Manager to maintain proper inventory count
- Work efficiently and in an organized manner during fast paced service windows
- Physically able to lift 50 lb and work with heavy machinery
