Job Title: Legal Billing Specialist
Location: Chicago, IL- Loop (100% Onsite)
Pay Range: $33/HR-$35/HR (Based on Experience & Qualifications)

Brilliant Financial Staffing is seeking a Legal Billing Specialist for a law firm in downtown Chicago. This is a contract opportunity for 3 months. The firm is looking for someone who can start quickly and has experience with legal billing, electronic billing platforms, and Aderant software.

The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for preparing and processing invoices, managing prebills, resolving electronic billing issues, and ensuring invoices comply with client billing guidelines. Qualified candidates would be available to start ASAP!

Legal Billing Specialist Responsibilities

• Manage the prebill-to-final-bill process and follow up with billing partners to ensure timely invoice completion.
• Review hourly rates, fixed fees, matter budgets, discounts, and fee caps for accuracy.
• Prepare and distribute invoices and electronic bills through various legal billing platforms.
• Ensure filing fees, disbursements, associate time, and patent and trademark-related costs are accurately included on invoices.
• Process write-downs, write-offs, and time transfers in accordance with firm policies.
• Troubleshoot electronic billing submissions and resolve invoice rejections and discrepancies.
• Track invoice statuses and follow up on outstanding approvals and payments.
• Work with clients and internal accounting teams to resolve billing issues.
• Maintain accurate billing records and support day-to-day billing operations.

Legal Billing Specialist Qualifications

• Prior legal billing and electronic billing experience-REQUIRED
• Hands-on experience with Aderant software-REQUIRED
• Familiarity with legal e-billing platforms and outside counsel billing guidelines.
• Understanding of invoice preparation, billing adjustments, and disbursements.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
