Job Title: AR/AP Specialist
Location: Chicago, IL (Back of the Yards)
Pay Range: $25–$30/HR (Based on Experience & Qualifications)

Role Overview:
Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged in a search for an AR/AP Specialist with our client located in Chicago, IL. Our client is a well-established manufacturing organization specializing in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of steel shelving and storage products. They’re looking for an experienced AR/AP Specialist to join their accounting team and assist with both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This AR/AP Specialist will be hired on a contract to hire basis and will work 100% onsite. The ideal candidate will have strong AR and collections experience, vendor portal experience, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, data-entry focused environment. The ideal candidate would be available to interview and start ASAP.

AR/AP Specialist Responsibilities:

• Process AP invoices using automated invoice processing software
• Review and route invoices to the appropriate departments for approval
• Manage vendor invoices and resolve discrepancies as needed
• Utilize vendor portals for large retail and big-box customers
• Perform daily cash applications and ensure payments are accurately applied
• Monitor AR aging and prioritize outstanding balances
• Perform collections outreach to smaller customers through phone and email
• Follow up on past due accounts and resolve outstanding balances
• Handle collections for major customers, including Walmart
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies and account issues
• Assist with additional accounting and data entry duties as needed

Qualifications:

• 5 years of accounting experience, with strong AR/collections experience
• Experience working with vendor portals-REQUIRED
• Experience working with multiple ERP/accounting systems
• Strong experience with Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a primarily data-entry focused accounting role
• Ability to work onsite and in a general office environment
• Ability to work effectively with a detail-oriented management style
