Personal Care Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in various care settings. In this role, you will assist clients with daily activities, monitor their health and well-being, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment. Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, especially in memory care or dementia settings
• Following HIPAA guidelines and care plans
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking to meet dietary needs
• Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe manual handling during transfers
• Maintain cleanliness of client spaces through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community outings
• Document patient observations, care activities, and communication with healthcare professionals accurately
• Support clients with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities, including autism and intellectual disabilities support
• Follow safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification, and emergency response procedures

Experience

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
• Demonstrated experience with patient observation, monitoring vital signs, medication administration, and implementing care plans
• Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care strategies, and hospice or palliative care practices
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities is advantageous
• Familiarity with patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts and safe manual handling techniques
• Background in geriatrics or senior care along with home & community care experience is beneficial
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications related to healthcare are a plus
