Quality Manager – Mission-Critical Construction
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead QA/QC activities for a mission-critical construction project. This role ensures mechanical construction, piping, welding, materials, and equipment comply with project specifications, applicable industry codes, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive construction experience and strong expertise in quality assurance, inspection, and corrective action management.
Responsibilities
- Lead project-wide QA/QC programs and ensure compliance with construction specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
- Manage direct-hire and third-party quality inspectors and oversee inspection activities.
- Inspect construction work, materials, and equipment; maintain punch lists, observation logs, and quality documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable ASME, AWS, IPC, AWWA, and UPC codes and standards.
- Track nonconformances, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions aligned with ISO 9001.
- Coordinate quality activities with project managers, engineers, field supervisors, clients, and subcontractors.
- Support quality planning, project schedules, budgets, risk management, and change orders.
- Monitor mechanical construction quality, including process piping, hydronic piping, fuel oil, plumbing, high-purity piping, and medical gas systems.
Ideal Candidate
- 15 years of construction industry experience, preferably with a general building contractor.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical construction, piping systems, welding, and QA/QC processes.
- Welding experience, including code-stamp certification.
- Experience with quality management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Cx Alloy, or ProjectSight.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mission-critical construction or data center projects.
- AWS QC1 Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- ASME PCC-1 bolting certification.
- Commissioning experience with HVAC equipment, including chillers, pumps, condensers, and related systems.
