What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Prevention Administrative Assistant position at Brighton Area Fire Department?
The Brighton Area Fire Authority is seeking a Fire Prevention Administrative Assistant to be part of our team. This role provides essential, confidential administrative support for Fire Prevention and acts as a professional liaison between the Fire Marshal, staff, the public, and various agencies. Work requires strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for phone calls, visitors, and emails regarding Fire Prevention Services, ordinances, and policies.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support: maintaining files, preparing agendas, scheduling inspections/appointments, managing calendars, and monitoring urgent email requests.
- Organize and maintain Fire Authority records using electronic systems (e.g., Mobil-Eyes, First Due, BS&A, Gmail Workspace).
- Coordinate multi-agency inspections and schedule community risk reduction events (e.g., smoke alarms).
- Prepare and process confidential documents, correspondence, reports, forms, and permits.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Minimum three (3) years of administrative or related experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of office management and administrative processes.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and modern office technology.
- Highly proficient in written communication (English usage, grammar, and punctuation).
- Ability to work within a team
- Possession of a valid Michigan Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Associate’s Degree preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
Hourly pay range will be between $22.00-$23.83/hr. based on qualifications. Generous benefit package including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription drug coverage; Short and Long Term Disability, Parental Leave, and up to a 13% employer contribution into Defined Contribution retirement program.
