What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Nutrition Services position at Bright Road Recovery?

Director of Medical and Clinical Nutrition Services
- Attend leadership meetings
- Responsible for managing the budget for the dietary department.
- Responsible for supervising registered dietitians and the nutrition program manager on individual patient questions, group questions, programming, and any other information needed for patient care.
- Responsible for supervising medical nutritional therapy and counseling aspects of BRR programming, ensuring that Bright Road Recovery’s nutrition philosophy and guidelines are being translated to clients and staff members clearly.
- Responsible for hiring, training and managing registered dietitians and RD eligible dietitians.
- Expected to represent Bright Road Recovery at conferences and events as needed.
- Expected to make presentations on pertinent topics as needed.
- Conduct individual, group and family nutritional therapy sessions for program and outpatient patients, as assigned
- Conduct nutrition assessments as needed.
- Participate in case management and care coordination, including utilization reviews and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Maintain appropriate and timely contact with referring professionals, outpatient professionals, and any collateral contacts necessary for the patients’ treatment
- Detailed and timely documentation, including: nutrition assessment, weekly goal setting and treatment planning, session progress notes and discharge reporting and recommendations
- Engage in milieu management, interacting with clients to provide support, information and learn where quality improvement is needed.
- Provide support to patients by performing the following during supported meals:
- Redirect conversations from inappropriate or triggering topics of conversation
- negative food talk, negative body talk, calories, diets, fitness plans or exercise, drug or alcohol use, violent or sexually explicit topics;
- Redirect eating disorder behaviors such as micro-cutting, micro-biting, or sorting of foods;
- Model proper table manners and eating behaviors
- Communicate program policies and any changes to program policies clearly to your team in person and through email.
- Identify and recommend appropriate exercise prescriptions and meal plans based on each individual patients’ needs.
- Make sure that patients are ready for meals and snacks, so that snacks, meals, and programming can remain on time.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Dietitian with up-to-date credentialing. Must maintain registration throughout employment.
- Minimum two years experience in treating eating disorders
- Knowledge of evidence based treatments and ability to individualize treatment approaches to meet each client's needs
- Must be able to conceptualize and implement a treatment plan with fully developed problems, objectives and work in coordination with a treatment team, including therapists, medical doctors, psychiatrists.
