DEFINITION:
Under general supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services, to serve as a site cashier; record/bookkeeper of Nutrition Services; accountability of daily sales and daily meals served; and to do other job-related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Nutrition Services Cashier is distinguished from Nutrition Services Assistant in that a greater amount of skill, experience, and coursework is required as it relates to Point of Sale, reimbursable meals, and identifying students with special dietary needs. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Knowledge of:

Nutrition Services Cashier is distinguished from Nutrition Services Assistant in that a greater amount of skill, experience, and coursework is required as it relates to Point of Sale, reimbursable meals, and identifying students with special dietary needs. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Operate the Point of Sale for all meals served;
- supervises children at the Point of Sale including ensuring accurate charge/accountability, and ensure meal is reimbursable;
- assist in washing and storing utensils, trays, and containers;
- assist in maintaining the food service facility (kitchen and serving areas) in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition;
- restock milk cooler;
- restock condiments;
- restock salad bar;
- prepare after-school program snacks;
- performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- state reimbursable breakfast and lunch program;
- basic arithmetical calculations and measurement processes;
- rules and regulations pertaining to health and safety in cafeteria;
- meet physical, mental and environmental demands of position;
- maintain flexibility;
- keep accurate records;
- operate a Point of Sale;

- stand for prolonged periods of time;

- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training with food preparation, safety, sanitation, or other related areas.
- One year of school food service experience.
- Valid Food Handlers Card/Certificate issued for Riverside County.
