Bright Minds is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for a short term engagement to join our finance team at a Fortune 500 company in the Lenexa area. This role will focus on reviewing vendor statements, reconciling credits, and processing invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of general accounting experience, strong familiarity with accounting systems, and the ability to step in and help the team catch up on reconciliation efforts.
In this role, you will manage the full cycle of accounts payable activities, including reviewing and reconciling vendor statements, verifying credits, and processing high-volume invoices. You’ll assist with reconciliation projects to ensure accurate financial records and resolve discrepancies with vendors as needed. Partnering closely with accounting and procurement teams, you will help streamline processes, maintain compliance with company policies, and support month-end close activities. This is a highly visible role within a fast-paced construction environment, requiring accuracy, efficiency, and strong problem-solving skills.
Requirements for the Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- 3-5 years of general accounting experience with a strong focus on accounts payable.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and ERP platforms (construction industry systems a plus).
- Experience reconciling vendor statements, credits, and invoice discrepancies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and high-volume workloads.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Prior experience in a construction or large enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with reconciliation projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets.
