Litigation Paralegal

Bright Line Counsel
Mason, OH Full Time
POSTED ON 10/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/22/2026

Bright Line Counsel is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented paralegal to support a busy family law practice. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys managing complex information, solving problems, coordinating multiple priorities, and taking ownership of responsibilities from start to finish.

While prior family law or paralegal experience is beneficial, it is not required. We are equally interested in candidates from other legal practice areas or professional backgrounds where accuracy, document management, analytical thinking, and persistent follow-through are essential.

The right candidate will be resourceful, dependable, comfortable working independently, and motivated by the opportunity to become an integral part of a collaborative legal team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage assigned matters, track deadlines, identify outstanding tasks, and ensure cases continue moving forward.
  • Communicate with clients, financial institutions, courts, opposing counsel, and other third parties to obtain necessary documents, records, and information.
  • Review and organize financial records, supporting documentation, discovery materials, and other case-related information, identifying missing items or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain accurate, well-organized electronic and physical files.
  • Manage attorney calendars, court dates, appointments, and filing deadlines.
  • Prepare and assist with legal correspondence, forms, pleadings, discovery materials, and other documents under attorney supervision.
  • Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and supporting materials.
  • Accurately track, record, and capture billable time contemporaneously, including identifying billable activities and assisting attorneys with timely, complete, and accurate time entries to maximize appropriate billable time capture.
  • Anticipate attorney needs, communicate progress, and follow through on assignments without requiring constant supervision.

What We're Looking For

Above all, we are seeking someone who demonstrates:

  • Initiative and ownership: Takes responsibility for assignments, identifies next steps, and follows through.
  • Exceptional organization: Can manage multiple active matters, deadlines, and competing priorities without losing track of details.
  • Critical thinking and resourcefulness: Can evaluate information, recognize when something is missing, ask thoughtful questions, and work toward solutions.
  • Attention to detail: Consistently produces accurate, complete, and carefully reviewed work.
  • Billing Awareness and Time Management: Understands the importance of capturing billable time, maintaining accurate records, and recognizing opportunities to ensure work performed is properly documented and billed.
  • Strong communication: Communicates professionally and effectively with attorneys, clients, and third parties, including when persistent follow-up is necessary.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn: Can absorb new information, apply feedback, and develop knowledge of unfamiliar legal procedures.
  • Reliability and accountability: Understands the importance of deadlines, confidentiality, and supporting clients through sensitive legal matters.

Relevant Experience

Candidates may come from a variety of professional backgrounds, including:

  • Family law, litigation, probate, bankruptcy, or other legal practice areas.
  • Legal assistant, paralegal, or legal case management positions.
  • Title agencies, mortgage processing, loan underwriting, or financial documentation.
  • Insurance claims, investigations, compliance, or other document-intensive professional environments.

Prior experience reviewing financial records, coordinating document collection, managing deadlines, or handling complex administrative processes is particularly valuable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior legal or comparable professional experience involving complex documentation and deadline management.
  • Experience with legal timekeeping, billable-hour tracking, and law firm billing software, including the ability to assist attorneys with accurately capturing and recording billable time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic document management systems.
  • Experience with legal practice management software, such as Clio, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with court procedures, electronic filing, discovery, or family law is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong written communication, proofreading, and organizational skills.
