Position Overview
This opportunity supports a $20B enterprise organization and represents one of our key clients. The role sits within a mature and highly complex corporate tax function and is primarily focused on use tax compliance across a large multi-jurisdictional footprint within the United States and Canada.
The level of the role may be aligned as either Assistant Tax Manager or Tax Manager depending on experience. This is a hands-on individual contributor position with no direct reports. The role requires a self-directed tax professional who can independently own core compliance responsibilities while partnering closely with senior tax leadership and cross functional business teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end to end use tax compliance process, including preparation, review, filing, and remittance of returns across multiple state, local, and provincial jurisdictions
- Ensure compliance with applicable use tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements in a high transaction volume enterprise environment
- Support use tax audits and appeals through preparation of audit documentation, coordination of responses, and assistance with issue resolution
- Collaborate with accounting teams on use tax accruals, reconciliations, cash flow considerations, and monthly journal entries
- Serve as a subject matter expert on use tax matters related to purchased materials, services, and capital expenditures
- Partner with procurement, strategic sourcing, and vendor contacts to resolve taxability determinations and exemption related questions
- Work closely with technology teams to ensure tax compliance systems and ERP integrations are operating accurately and efficiently
- Analyze large and complex data sets to identify compliance risks, errors, and opportunities for process improvement
- Contribute to cross functional tax initiatives, including legislative monitoring, tax policy support, and efficiency or scalability projects
- Lead through influence by advising and educating internal stakeholders without formal people management responsibilities

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related discipline
- At least four years of experience in corporate tax and or accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience working with large data sets and analytics or reporting tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, or similar platforms
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to translate technical tax concepts into business guidance
- Ability to independently manage complex responsibilities in a deadline driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or comparable professional credential
- Prior experience with use tax compliance in a large, multi entity organization
- Familiarity with ERP systems and tax compliance software
Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
