What are the responsibilities and job description for the Indirect Tax Accountant position at Brewer Morris?
We are seeking a Tax Accountant to support federal, state, and local tax compliance across multiple entities. This role prepares a variety of indirect tax filings, supports audits, and contributes to tax planning and analysis initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare periodic U.S. and Canadian sales and use tax returns, property tax filings, and quarterly fuel tax filings.
- Maintain due‑date tracking and ensure all filings and payments are completed accurately and on time.
- Research and resolve customer and internal tax inquiries.
- Reconcile sales tax accounts and prepare monthly journal entries.
- Provide data analysis to support tax reporting and planning.
- Assist with government audits and various tax and business planning projects.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Hybrid model: four days in office, one day remote.
Qualifications
- Two to three years of public accounting or corporate tax experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate clearly.
- Knowledge of tax accounting, compliance, planning, and financial analysis.
- Ability to develop solutions to complex problems and apply sound judgment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
