A growing company is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its finance team. This leadership role will support the Controller and senior management by overseeing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving process improvements. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in maintaining compliance, supporting audits, and providing insights that guide strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP
- Conduct financial analysis, variance reviews, and performance evaluations against budgets and forecasts
- Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, inventory accounting, and general ledger activities
- Ensure timely reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline reporting and improve processes
- Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Manage sales tax administration with third-party providers
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and team collaboration
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering and analyzing financial data
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced degree preferred)
- 8 years of accounting and financial reporting experience, with prior supervisory or Assistant Controller experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards; manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and solve complex problems
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $130,000 – $155,000 plus target bonus of 15–20%
