Role: Corporate Accounting Manager - Biotech - CPA is highly preferred -Biotech is required.
This role is responsible for core corporate accounting operations while providing subject‑matter expertise in clinical trial accruals and corporate accounting. The position partners closely with Clinical Operations and external vendors to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with US GAAP.
Key Responsibilities
Play a lead role in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet support schedules.
Oversee or review Accounts Payable activities to ensure timely vendor payments and proper expense recognition. Review payroll accounting and related compliance matters.
Maintain internal controls in accordance with SOX 404 requirements across corporate and R&D expenses.:
Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audit processes, including preparing audit schedules for providing technical support.
Develop, maintain, and review clinical accrual models for multiple clinical programs across various phases, ensuring accurate recognition of costs incurred but not yet invoiced.
Partner with Clinical Operations, CROs, and vendors to track study status, site activation, enrollment metrics, and timelines to support accurate cost-to-complete estimates.
Review investigators' grant accruals and high-visibility vendor invoices against contract terms to ensure appropriate coding, timing, and expense recognition.
Analyze and explain variances between actual results, forecasts, and budgets to management and external auditors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
5 years of progressive accounting experience, typically including a combination of public accounting and biotechnology or life sciences industry experience.
3 years in Public Accounting with experience in Biotech clients
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, with specific experience in ASC 730 (R&D accounting) and clinical trial accrual methodologies.
Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite; advanced Excel skills required.
CPA preferred
Base Salary Range: $150,000-165,000K
Hybrid is required - local applicants only.
