Senior Revenue Accountant
The Senior Revenue Accountant is a key contributor within the accounting organization, responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition while supporting business growth. This role emphasizes technical revenue accounting, ASC 606 application, audit readiness, and process improvement, while also providing insight into the revenue process to non-accounting and finance-related professionals. The position partners closely with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Operations to ensure revenue is properly accounted for and reported.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and support revenue recognition under ASC 606, including analysis of complex customer contracts, variable consideration, and multi-element arrangements.
- Apply U.S. GAAP and internal accounting guidelines to ensure accurate and consistent revenue accounting.
- Prepare and maintain revenue accounting memos, policies, and documentation to support accounting conclusions.
- Review customer contracts in collaboration with Sales and Legal to assess accounting impacts and ensure proper revenue treatment.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
- Support internal and external audit preparation related to revenue, including request fulfillment and walkthroughs.
- Assist with revenue-related disclosures for financial statements.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue processes, controls, and system automation.
- Utilize SAP and Advanced Excel to analyze, reconcile, and report revenue data.
- Provide guidance, review work, and mentor junior accountants; act as a subject matter resource for revenue accounting questions.
- Partner with FP&A to support revenue forecasting and variance analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA a plus - not required.
- 4–6 years of experience in revenue accounting, technical accounting, or public accounting.
- Solid working knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue-related U.S. GAAP.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical guidance.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
