Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with children with developmental disabilities, providing support and implementing behavioral therapy techniques to enhance their quality of life. You will play a crucial role in collecting data, documenting progress, and assisting in the development of individualized treatment plans. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals in the field.
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a licensed professional.
- Collect and record data on patient behaviors and progress towards goals.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist clients in daily living activities and promote independence through skill-building strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess client needs and develop effective treatment strategies.
- Provide support during diagnostic evaluations and contribute to the development of treatment plans based on applied behavior analysis principles.
- Engage clients in therapeutic activities that promote social skills, communication, and behavioral improvements.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients while adhering to all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and practices, particularly applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Familiarity with data collection methods and medical documentation standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
- A compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification or training in relevant fields is a plus but not required; willingness to pursue training is essential.
Workplace Expectations
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Conduct therapy in a variety of settings including but not limited to: at a table, on the floor, in all rooms of the clinic.
- Change diapers/aid with toileting needs.
- Always stay within 5 feet of the client, including instances of client elopement.
- Actively engage in interactive games/activities with clients to support their functional goals.
- Effectively and readily implement interventions to prevent, reduce, and/or deescalate challenging behaviors.
