Bredhoff & Kaiser (B&K) is a boutique law firm in Washington, D.C. with a national practice specializing in litigation on behalf of labor unions and other progressive institutions, as well as advice and counseling on employee benefits and on issues of concern to nonprofit organizations. Our firm employs approximately 55 people, including lawyers, paralegals, and other talented staff who work together in a cooperative, team-based environment.
B&K seeks to hire an Office Manager to assist the firm’s Administrator in managing the day-to-day operations of the firm. This is a unique opportunity either for an experienced office manager or for an individual with administrative experience ready to expand their management portfolio with responsibilities in accounting, human resources, information technology, and office services and facilities management. As the Office Manager, you must have experience in two or more of the following areas:
- Accounting, including reviewing final bills to ensure compliance with guidelines, appropriate transfers, write-offs, and credit applications; generating monthly AR reports; and adjusting journal entries.
- Human Resources, including tracking and screening applications; onboarding new employees; maintenance of personnel records; and renewal of attorney bar licenses and professional memberships.
- Information Technology, including drafting, implementing, and monitoring compliance with IT policies and information governance guidelines; tracking IT assets; and coordinating updates to the firm’s external and internal websites.
- Office Services, including supervising, training, and evaluating the office services staff and functions. This includes researching, recommending, and negotiating service contracts and the lease/purchase of the firm’s copiers, postage meters, overnight delivery carriers, office and kitchen suppliers, caterers, telephone carriers, AV equipment suppliers, library assets, and on- and off-site storage.
- Facilities, including overseeing the maintenance of office facilities, furniture, and equipment.
Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law firm setting; sound judgment and effective interpersonal communication skills; excellent problem solving and follow-through skills; keen attention to detail and organizational skills. Candidates must be able to proofread material for grammatical, typographical, and other errors and verify calculations on forms and documents; be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat; and be knowledgeable regarding law firm time and billing systems (Juris preferred).

The Office Manager may work from home up to one day per week following a probationary period. B&K offers excellent benefits and leave packages. Salary is commensurate with experience, $100,000-135,000.
