- Operate tower and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions on a commercial construction project
- Interpret and follow all hand, radio, or voice signals
- Operate tower crane to perform hoisting operations as required
- Complete daily and weekly inspection and maintenance reports
- Perform daily pre-operational checks and basic maintenance on equipment
- Know and use instrument and control panels for the crane
- Work in all types of weather conditions
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and company policies
- Maintain a drug-free work environment
- Take part in lift planning and attend required safety meetings
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years’ commercial construction tower crane operator experience preferred
- Must have a current and valid NCCCO certification for the type of crane being operated
- Certification card and proof of medical fitness for duty (either physical or DOT medical card) must be kept on file
- Must pass both written and practical tests for the specific crane type
- Must be medically fit for duty (verified by a physical exam or DOT medical card)
- Familiar with tools and processes commonly used on a construction site
- Knowledge of regulations, safety requirements, and company/site policies applicable to crane operators
- Ability to read, understand, and follow load charts
- Can clearly follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Must fluently speak and write English
- Familiar with construction safety practices and PPE requirements
- Able to physically perform duties (climb ladders, get in/out of cab, lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights)
