Mechanical Assembly Systems Engineer
About the Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support the design and integration of tooling, machinery, and automated manufacturing equipment within the aerospace industry.
This is a great opportunity for a mechanical or manufacturing-focused engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, tooling, CAD, and equipment integration. You will work closely with manufacturing engineers, tooling designers, equipment designers, and customers to develop requirements, layouts, system models, and testing plans that support successful manufacturing programs.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop design requirements for static and dynamic tooling, machinery, and assembly equipment.
- Develop system models for tooling and production equipment.
- Modify and develop facility integration layouts using CAD software.
- Develop test plans, acceptance criteria, and documentation for tools and equipment.
- Participate in and support equipment acceptance testing with customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, tooling engineers, and equipment designers.
- Review manufacturing concepts involving fabrication, machining, and assembly.
- Apply knowledge of metallic and composite materials and manufacturing processes.
- Complete engineering models, layouts, and test plans within established budgets and schedules.
- Present system models, designs, and project status to internal and external customers.
- Support projects across multiple sites as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
- 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience with tooling, machinery, automated manufacturing equipment, or assembly systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, machining, and assembly.
- Knowledge of metallic and composite materials and processing.
- Experience developing engineering requirements and technical documentation.
- Experience modifying facility layouts or equipment integration layouts using CAD.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency with CATIA V5, NX, or similar CAD software.
- Experience developing system models for tooling or production equipment.
- Experience developing equipment test plans and acceptance criteria.
- Experience participating in customer or internal equipment acceptance testing.
- Experience with PLM systems and engineering data management.
- Experience supporting aerospace tooling or automated manufacturing systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
