Transformer Power Technician
Location: Lubbock | Full-Time | Department: Transformers
Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
General Duties
- Assist with inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and testing power transformers.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with support from experienced team members.
- Learn to use tools, testing equipment, and established repair procedures.
- Follow all safety requirements, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Accurately document completed work and testing results.
- Communicate project progress, findings, and concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Contribute to a positive culture of teamwork, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- No previous transformer experience required; training will be provided.
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning how equipment works.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with a team.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and attentive to detail.
- Previous electrical, mechanical, transformer, or industrial experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy components up to 50 lbs.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials.
- Ability to stand, climb, push, pull, crouch, or kneel for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in a transformer repair shop.
- The shop may include exposure to mechanical equipment, industrial materials, varying temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
- Required personal protective equipment and safety training will be provided.
