The Electric Motor Field Service Technician at the Apprentice level, will play a key support role in the repair of electromechanical equipment and rotating apparatuses. This entry-level position is designed to provide hands-on training and base knowledge of electric motor operations while following strict adherence to safety procedures. Under the guidance of experienced field service technicians, this team member will develop and gain an understanding of essential skills, build industry expertise and grow technical abilities in the field. This is an hourly position.
Primary Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Take instruction and learn from more experienced techs and supervisors.
- Provide a high level of customer service to all customers
- Be aware of surroundings, identify hazards and stop unsafe conditions immediately.
- Learn safe lifting and handling techniques for heavy components.
- Provide field service for removal and installation of pumps and electric motors
- Disassemble and reassemble various types of rotating equipment, such as pumps, centrifugal, submersible, vertical, turbine, gear reducers, electric motors, and blowers
- Set tolerances for bearing fit and clearances, motor connections, and testing
- Laser alignment/vibration analysis
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures and report all unsafe activity
- Conduct field inspections and assessments of electric motors to diagnose issues and determine necessary repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on a variety of electric motors, ensuring optimal performance.
- Collaborate with our clients to understand their specific needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and mechanical problems efficiently.
- Keep accurate records of service activities, including parts used and time spent on each job.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements and participate in training programs to enhance skills.
Qualifications:
- Technical/Vocational training preferred
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant mechanic experience desired
- Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record, with no major traffic violations, suspensions, or DUIs in the previous 5 years.
- Relative understanding of machinery
- Able to work independently with strong self-management and professionalism.
- Able to complete work within assigned deadlines.
- Computer proficiency as required for communication, research, work orders and programming various controllers.
- Available for a rotating schedule of on-call work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Overnight travel and on-call required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and work in industrial environments including extremes in temperature with continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling.
