Our team is looking for energetic and passionate individuals to join us in creating unforgettable summer experiences!


Job Summary


The Cabin Life staff implement programs and activities within a cabin, and are the individuals responsible for the physical, social, and emotional care of a cabin group. Each cabin group consists of approximately 8-10 campers and 3-5 staff.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Cabin Head
  • Plays a vital leadership role within the cabin community and are responsible for the overall physical, social, and emotional well-being of their assigned cabin group.
  • Serves as the primary leader and point of support.
  • Lives in the cabins alongside campers and staff, providing direction, feedback, and supervision to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for everyone.
  • Oversees camper documentation.
  • Assists with personal care and activities of daily living.
  • Manages staff break schedules within the cabin.
  • Ensures adherence to Bradford Woods policies and procedures.
  • Meets with parents and guardians during the check-in and check-out process.
  • Leads daily cabin meetings.
  • Helps create a supportive and engaging environment for both staff and campers.
  • Cabin Counselor
  • Works directly with children and adults with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses, providing daily care and support while fostering a safe and positive camp experience.
  • Lives in the cabins with campers and staff and play a key role in ensuring that the physical, social, and emotional needs of each participant are met.
  • Assists campers with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, and personal care, as well as supporting medical procedures including g-tubes, maces, and montis.
  • Collaborates with program staff to adapt activities to the needs and abilities of each camper.
  • Works closely with the Cabin Head to complete camper documentation and maintain a safe, supportive cabin environment.


Qualifications


EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

Preferred

  • Some college experience

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • Bradford Woods camp experience or similar medical camp, or experience in special education or nursing

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications upon date of hire

  • Experience guiding or mentoring youth, with a passion for inspiring growth and development in others
  • Ability to think critically and resolve conflicts or unexpected situations calmly and efficiently

Working Conditions / Demands


This is an active, hands-on role that requires physical mobility and stamina. This includes frequently moving about the workspace and the ability to move objects up to 50 pounds. Transfers and team movements may be provided as needed to support camper access and participation. You'll need the ability to move and transfer equipment, as well as adapt to a position that is both physically and emotionally engaging.

Positions require working both indoors and outdoors in potentially high or low temperatures with loud noises at times. Some overnight duties are required due to the residential nature of our camps. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

It is a condition of employment that employees live on-site.

During the average week, summer camp staff can expect to put in long, but rewarding hours, which will often include evening shifts. While days will be busy, some flexible time off can be organized with your supervisor to catch up on some well-deserved rest.

Advertised Salary


$400.00 - $450.00 per week, depending on the position.

Room and board provided in addition to salary.

Flat weekly rate of pay is prorated for any missed days.
